Orientation:
My orientation to psychotherapy is mainly informed by psycho-
dynamic theory but is eclectic and integrative in practice. By this I mean that the basis of my understanding of people's current life difficulties has origins in early life experiences, as well as biological influences. These influences affect the ways you think, feel, behave and relate to others. While the basis of my understanding is psycho-
dynamic, I work collaboratively with you and employ a range of interventions to increase your understanding of issues and long-
standing patterns by using a variety of interventions that include a range of cognitive/behavioral techniques, reflections, readings, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Ultimately, my focus and hope is to empower one to make choices, change,
and grow.
Initial Sessions:
Typically, I devote one to three sessions to a discussion and evaluation of the problem which brings you in, make treatment recommendations, and any referrals we deem necessary. It is most important that by the end of this process you feel comfortable working with me and feel this is a good fit for you. Once our sessions are underway you may refuse treatment at any time, request a change in treatment approach, or request a referral to another therapist.
